"Pretty frustrating when you're trying to get around"
I tried using the Rick Steves app during my trip, it got frustrating. It kept freezing right when I needed the maps or the audio guides, which is not ideal when you’re already wandering around trying to figure out where you are. I mean, getting a little lost can be fun sometimes — I once found a great little bakery that way, but not when your app decides to stop working. The downloads were hit or miss too, so I couldn’t always count on having what I needed. Overall, it was annoying at the worst possible times.
"Not exactly confidence-inspiring"
I went on ricksteves.com to look up some travel info, i didn’t feel great about using it. The site has that older, slightly neglected feel, which is always super reassuring when you’re wondering how your information is being handled. Maybe everything is technically fine, who knows, but it definitely didn’t make me feel secure. I ended up closing it and using other travel sites instead. Just didn’t feel worth the guessing game.

"My first impression wasn’t great because the order..."
My first impression wasn’t great because the order took way longer to arrive than I expected. The tracking barely updated the whole time, so I had no real idea where my package was or when it would show up. The item did eventually come, but the slow shipping made the experience frustrating.

"Way more walking than I expected"
The tour was listed as easy, but it didn’t feel that way to me. There was a ton of walking every day, and my knees were absolutely not having it. By the end of each day, I was wiped out. Kinda wish the description had been more upfront, because dang, it was a lot.
"I was trying to buy a guidebook..."
I was trying to buy a guidebook, but the checkout kept freezing right after I entered my card info. I had to start over twice, and even then it never really showed whether the order actually went through or not. That part was weird, especially when payment details are involved. I ended up giving up and buying it somewhere else...

"Decent trip, but too many “policy” excuses"
The trip itself was okay, but the hotels were disappointing. They felt cheap, noisy, and a couple of the rooms were so tiny it was hard to even move around comfortably. When I asked about it, I kept getting the whole “that’s our policy” type of response, which just made it more frustrating. The meals weren’t great either—mostly bland and rushed, and definitely not what I expected for what we paid. Overall, it wasn’t a disaster, but I wouldn’t book again.

"Not really worth it for how I travel"
I went into Rick Steves expecting a little more for the price, especially since the name has such a good reputation. The info wasn’t bad at all, but in my case, a lot of it felt like the kind of stuff I could’ve pieced together on my own with a few Google searches or free travel forums.
I can see how it might be helpful if you want everything in one place or you’re new to planning trips, but for me it just didn’t add enough value. I finished feeling like I paid more for the brand than for anything I couldn’t have found elsewhere

"I’ve found some useful info on Rick..."
I’ve found some useful info on Rick Steves, and I can see why a lot of people like it. But reading between the lines, it feels like much of the advice is written with couples or small groups in mind, not someone traveling on their own.
The site itself is easy to navigate, but I had to hunt around for the things I actually wanted, like solo safety tips or ways to meet people while traveling. It wasn’t terrible, just not as practical or solo-friendly as I was hoping

"I was disappointed with how the cancellation..."
I was disappointed with how the cancellation policy was handled. I understand businesses need rules, but this one felt really strict and not very customer-friendly.
By the time I tried to cancel, I was already feeling mentally drained, and the whole process just made it worse. It didn’t feel like there was much understanding or flexibility, and the amount of money they kept seemed unfair to me.
Maybe other people have had a better experience, but this really left a bad taste. I’d definitely think twice and read every detail before booking again.

"Audio tour was kind of rough"
The audio kept cutting in and out, and it sounded messy most of the time. It was hard to follow what was being said, so I couldn’t really get into the tour like I wanted to.

"Not great on my phone"
I tried using the site on my phone it was kind of a pain. It feels outdated and clunky, and the menus weren’t very intuitive at all. Some pages loaded strangely too, which didn’t help. I was just trying to find tour info, not exactly a huge ask, but it ended up taking way longer than it should have. After poking around for a while, I just gave up.

"Good trip, but one couple held us up"
Overall, it was a really nice trip and most of the group was easygoing and fun to be around. The only frustrating part was one couple who kept slowing everyone down, so I’d put most of the delays on them. Still, outside of that, I had a good time.

"Really helpful for getting beyond the touristy stuff"
I used ricksteves.com before my trip to Italy, and it was helpful. It gave me a better feel for local customs, food, and a little bit of history, so I didn’t feel quite so lost walking around. Some of the pages look a bit dated, but the advice was still really useful.

"Helpful for planning a trip with limited walking"
I used Rick Steves while planning a trip with my mom, who has some mobility issues, and it made things a lot easier. The city guides had helpful notes about walking distances, hills, stairs, and public transportation, which helped us steer clear of a few spots that would’ve been too much for her.
Overall, it was a smooth experience and made the planning feel less stressful. I do wish the accessibility info was all in one easy-to-find place, since I had to dig around a bit and double-check a few things elsewhere, but it still gave us a solid starting point.
"Helpful, but a bit dated"
I mean, there are definitely some good tips in here, and I did find parts of it useful. But, I don’t know, a few pages felt kind of old and messy, like they could use a refresh or better organization.

"Helpful info, but the transport advice really missed the mark"
I usually like Rick Steves guides and have used them on a bunch of trips, but the transportation info on the site let me down this time. A train connection they recommended wasn’t running the way it was listed, and the bus option they gave was far off too.
Maybe there was a local schedule change or something, but it messed up our plans and we ended up missing part of the day. What annoyed me even more was getting the usual canned apology type of response, like “sorry for the inconvenience,” instead of any real acknowledgment. When you’re traveling, you kind of trust this stuff to be current, so I really wish they kept those details updated more carefully

"Support took longer than I’d like"
I had a problem with my order, i’m probably a bit impatient when it comes to customer support, but the replies felt slow. They did get back to me eventually and helped, but I definitely felt like I had to follow up more than I should’ve.

"Nice stops, but a bit too rushed for me"
Maybe it’s just me, but the itinerary felt packed every day. I did enjoy some of the stops, but there wasn’t much time to just wander around or take a break. It felt like we were constantly on the move, and I ended up coming home more tired than excited. I think it could’ve been better with a slower pace.

"Group was way bigger than expected"
The tour group was just too big for my taste. Lots of standing around. Waiting for everyone to catch up, squeezing onto crowded sidewalks, trying to hear what the guide was saying. It all felt a bit rushed and not very personal. I was expecting something smaller, so yeah, disappointing.

"Booking was more annoying than I expected"
I really like the travel info on Rick Steves but booking through the site was kind of a pain for me. A few steps were not very clear and I had to backtrack more than once. It did work out in the end but it was more hassle than I wanted
